CLAIM AGAINST BAY AREA RAPID TRANSIT DISTRICT BY ESTATE OF OSCAR J. GRANT III
(Oakland, CA, January 6, 2009) – The family of Oscar Grant, the 22 year old killed by a Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) Police officer, filed a $25 million claim against BART on Tuesday. The claim alleges that the fatal shooting of the unarmed passenger constituted civil rights violation including illegal detention and use of excessive and/or deadly force, causing Grant’s wrongful death.
